Nervous energy
I recently read 'Walking in this World' by Julia Cameron. It's a followup book to 'Artist's Way'. She had this image that conforted me greatly. She said that creative artists are like skittish racehorses, nervous until they are actually running. That the more active- and even more negative' your imagination is, the more it is a sign of creative energy. This is me. And having been a nervous, anxious person all my life, this helps me to appreciate that quality. And to know there is a purpose for it as long as I channel it correctly. I've noticed for a long time that when I write, I'm calmer. At least that's the way it works for me.
